One of Macheo's volunteers has made a video about the cow-program and how, in the near future, it should support the running costs of the orphanage and the eductionan programs in the surrounding schools.
The video is in english!

Mambapoint, part of one of Holland's major television channels NCRV, has made a wonderful video of Marnix and his work in Kenya.
The short documentary focusses on how Macheo is more and more able to finance the running costs of the orphanage and the eduction programs by our farming activities: the chicken, greenhouses and our latest initiative: the cows.
The video is in dutch and unfortunately there are no subtitles available. The images should speak for themselves though!

Macheo Netherlands, the foundation supports and raises funds for the activities of Macheo Children’s Centre in Kenya. Apart from that the foundation is responsible for the child-sponsorship program, funding from and communications in the Netherlands.
The foundation appointed a new chairwoman: Dorine Helmer, who is working as a business consultant at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, is replacing Lizet Friesen. Lizet choose to step down now that she has a little girl to take care of. We would like to thank Lizet for all the years of hard work for Macheo!
Also joining the board is Sander Tulfer, business controller at Avery Dennison, who will replace Frank van Kats as the foundation's treasurer.

In December 2005 we took in the first children in our rental home. That was in Landless, Thika. December 2006, a year later, we had the wonderful and joyous opening of Macheo Children's Home in Gatuanyaga.
And this month, 2,5 years later, we're very happy to welcome the last of the total of 56 children that we're able to accommodate and in helping them to a brighter future. They are Mary Wambui (8 years), Daina Penina (10 years), Munyiva Mulu (9 years) and Mwungeri Mulu (5 years). They come from Makueni, a very remote area, about 200km from Nairobi.
With the new children, the Macheo family is complete (for now) and a new stage has begun. It will be a few years before we'll be able to take in new children again. That will be when Teresia, our oldest, will leave the house, to go to highschool.
Although we can't thank you enough, we still like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all our (child-)sponsors for their love, commitment and (financial) support to help us to help these children. We couldn't have done this without your help.

Anne Wanjiku is one of our smallest. When she first came to us, she could hardly speak. But now she's able to talk, and she likes playing with the other children, but she especialy likes singing. Here she's with Simon Wachieni, our social worker, trying on shoes that were donated.
